Quick Geek Test

OK, you're reading this journal. Obviously you have a computer.

Question: Did you name it?

I have a Gateway named Mariette and an iBook named Cirrus. The former is based on an extremely obscure inside joke; the latter is a nod to "A.I.," and if THAT isn't geeky I don't know what is.

I named my car, too. (Nala. Because she's "already toasty-brown.")

What about the rest of you folk? Anyone name the dishwasher?

I don't bother to name my appliances. Nope. I stick to naming my "personalities". he he. But, now I'm thinking... darnit... poor puter has no name and we spend so much time together cursing AOL out! I will work on a name post haste! This simply cannot continue! ;) Jenn

Hmm. I don't think this is geeky. I haven't named anything, but maybe thats because I can't keep track of all the innocent people I mention in my blog and the names I give them and stuff. I once I had a car I named, but I can't remember what it was. Its long been crushed. There was a bunch of my friends and I that did it at the time, it was fun. So I was the only geek of that bunch, still am, so me thinks your name inanimate objects is just you, endearing, but still you. Gordy

I've never named my computers (or household appliances), but I DO name my cars. My current vehicle's name is Gray (he's silver in color and I wanted to be perverse).

Oogie always named her cars and she passed the tradition on to me. I have fond memories of Nellie. Oogie used to do a hard brake and make Nellie bow and while she did it, she'd say, "Whoa, Nellie!"

I name computers on networks - currently using Heinlein characters. Cars ceased to be named after the love of my life, "Climb", met the crusher. Too traumatic. Hard enough losing dogs and children.

I once named a jet tub jet "Steve" but maybe that's more than you wanted to know.

My second car had the name "wheezer" because when i would turn it off, it coughed and gasped and then sighed deeply.

Right now our computers are named "good one" and "pop up infested one".

Well...my pick-up truck is named "Little Pepe," after a similar character in "Romancing the Stone." (Well, he'd LIKE to be similar.) And I have an antique piece of furniture I named Sylvia because it was too hard to say, "It's in the drawer of that antique thingy in the kitchen." And I've named some of my restaurant equipment, notably Edna and Agnes--two transit carts used to proof and hold baked goods. Don't ask... Lisa :-]
